Ask me Why I call myself Queen, What happened to her?, &Power

Your writing is phenomenal! True inspiration at its best. These are my favorite 3 u have written, however, all poems posted are awesome individually as well. These 3 spoke to me...awakened something inside....reminded me of who I am destined to be. Your writing style is alot like Maya Angelou(my favorite poet & author) with a modern edge. Looking forward to reading more

Hey Amanda! Thank you so much for that awesome word of encouragement. Maya Angelou is definitely an influence on my writing style. She's one of my favorites too. Thanks for taking some time to visit my blog; hope you'll continue.

Today's People are people, very much like the severe past. They act as such because of limited knowledge, human ignorance and limited tolerance. So with having little of that the only thing they could depend on was survival and survival was the thing sought after. One survived best when they were on top. The needed to feel better and above everyone else. (Even tho racism was based on this to me it still exist TODAY. The sad part about it is that it also exist among our own race.) <--------I have to include that msg.

Queen I totally feel where you're coming from and I too have experienced some similar events as the one you spoke of. Racism has been around since the beginning....& honestly it looks as if it will never end...:-( We just have to educated our children in the right way as well as let them know what racism is & that its still here. Because I believe that racism is taught & if children are brought up the right way it will eventually eliminate the problem.

I found this quote that Bob Marley wrote and it fits exactly what I'm saying....."Until the philosophy which hold one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned...Everything is war. Me say war. Thats until the're no longer 1st class and 2nd class citizens of any nation...Until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes, me say war. That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race me say war!” ―Bob Marley

Queen, we're going to have to keep our God 1st, prayers in place & believe that he will guide us out of this cruel world. I LOVE what you're doing and just keep up the good work. I encourage you to keep doing what you do and please know....YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT!!! :-)

Love ya chic!

Shani, first off, thank you so much for your comments and your support.

Secondly, I agree that racism is taught. Even if not inentionally, it is taught in the way we interact with people of different races. Even black folk teach racism. How? By not providing a diverse environment for their children. By not preparing their children for the world they face.

But at the same time, you will NEVER hear me say that black people are racist. Yes, we might participate in hateful acts and thoughts but in my opinion, it is IMPOSSIBLE for black folk to be racist. We didn't ask to be treated lilke we have for hundreds of years. We didn't ask to be stolen from our mother land. We didn't ask to be slaves. We didn't ask to pick cotton. We didn't ask to be discriminated against. All we've done since this all began is try to proove that we deserve to be treated fairly. If we have become hardened, untrusting, angry, separtists as a result, then so be it. But we have never done ANYTHING to be treated like we are treated in this country (particularly).

We have been robbed of our culture, our religion, our pride and brain washed into believing that we are no royalty and that we are only second best to white folk. Hell, even Indians discriminate on black people. We are the bottom of the bottom, or so they would have us think. I am not apologetic for my stance on discrimination at all.

Prayer is a good way to go, but we also have to do as you said and educate ourselves and our children. It does no good to teach them to overlook racists. We have to teach them WHY racists exist. We have to teach them why it's wrong. We have to acknowledge our pasts which means our children must know that we are in a foreign land, and that we belong to another part of the earth. We are African. We can't deny that. We are so quick to claim America but every change America gets, it does not claim us.

I apologize for my long windedness. LOL. I could probably just write another entry about this.

You have been very supportive and I thank you for that. Please, please don't be a stranger to this site and share with your friends. We need some traction in this effort to expose and communicate. Thank you for taking time to share your comments. I can't wait for our face to face chat. :-) Be blessed dear.
